【Uda, Nara】Byobuiwa Park

Byobuiwa (folding screen rock) Public Garden, located in Uda County, Nara Perfecutre, offers a serene escape into nature. Visitors can enjoy seasonal flowers and plants, and it is famous for cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in the fall. The garden is open to visitors year-round, allowing you to enjoy its beauty at your own pace.

Features

The main attraction of Byobuiwa Park is its spectacular natural scenery. Byobuiwa is designated as a National Natural Monument known for its impressive rock formation. The width of the rock formation is about 2 km, and the vertical rock walls, with column-like shapes, rise about 200 meters high, creating an overwhelmingly powerful sight. These striking formations were shaped over time through natural weathering and erosion.

Recommended Ways to spend and enjoy

When you have plenty of time, the best way to spend your time in Byobuiwa Park is to take a walk along the hiking trail of Mt. Sumizuka. Early mornings offer especially stunning views, as the sunlight casts beautiful shadows on the rock surfaces. The seasonal changes in nature are exceptional when strolling along the trail. Popular with families and couples, the park is a great spot for a peaceful natural setting.
