【Tsushima, Nagasaki】Chiromo no Yado: A Private Rental Inn

Chiromo no Yado is a private rental inn offering guests in Tsushima the luxury of space and tranquility. Immerse yourself in the stunning natural scenery and the serene local atmosphere.

Concept:

“Three-second walk to the ocean.”

Located in the Chiromo district of Toyotama-cho, Tsushima City, Chiromo no Yado sits centrally on the island, overlooking the Tsushima Straits. This unique inn allows you to rent an entire building, offering the privacy and comfort of a personal villa surrounded by Tsushima’s serene natural beauty. Nestled in a small village with just 5 households, it offers a peaceful retreat where you can relax with family or friends, surrounded by the gentle sound of nearby waves.

The owner, Mr. Ogawa, created Chiromo no Yado with the vision of offering guests a luxurious escape where they can simply relax and soak in the surrounding beauty. This charming inn-a renovated single-story traditional Japanese house-preserves the timeless atmosphere of old Japan. Its nostalgic ambiance invites you to feel right at home, making you want to say, “Tadaima” (I’m home).

[Chiromo no Yado] this last part: “yado” translates to “inn” or a “place to stay” in Japanese

[Tadaima] is a phrase most people in Japan grow up with. Meaning “I’m home!”. Some people say this not only to others but to the house itself to show respect.

Rooms

The inn features three bedrooms and a spacious living room with a kitchen, allowing guests to prepare their own meals. Accommodating up to 10 people, it’s perfect for families or groups.

Just outside the entrance, the ocean stretches out like a natural aquarium, with fish swimming nearby. From the windows, you can enjoy Tsushima’s stunning sea and mountain views, showcasing nature’s beauty throughout the changing seasons.

The spacious living and dining areas are perfect for large groups to gather, share travel stories, and reminisce about cherished memories. While the inn has been renovated from an old private house, it retains its original charm, with updated water and other facilities ensuring a comfortable stay.

Meals

Meals at Chiromo no Yado are self-catered, offering a glimpse into daily life in Tsushima. Guests are encouraged to stock up on food and drinks for dinner and breakfast before check-in. The nearby supermarket offers a variety of fresh seafood, meats, and other local ingredients to prepare your meals.

The inn is equipped with a full range of cooking tools, including a BBQ set, Balmuda oven, and toaster. For breakfast, we recommend picking up some bread in advance to enjoy with a freshly brewed cup of coffee for a leisurely start to your day.

A BBQ plan is also available, featuring turban shells and fire mussels harvested from the sea in front of the inn. Guests can enjoy a unique experience by collecting these fresh delicacies at the right time for cooking. (For details, please refer to the reservation site!)

Within a 10-minute drive, you’ll find excellent dining options, including the Michelin-starred ‘Anago Tei’ and ‘Santome,’ sushi restaurants like ‘Hama Sushi’ and ‘Masako Sushi’ featuring Tsushima’s fresh fish, and cozy, affordable taverns such as ‘Shin-chan’ and ‘Kinkai’. Whether dining out or enjoying a relaxing meal at the inn, you’ll savor the best of Tsushima’s local flavors.
