【Uda City, Nara】Tsukihi

This is a Japanese modern farmhouse inn where you can spend time away from everyday life in a quiet environment, focusing on your body and mind.

Concept

“Experience the beauty of Japan’s rural landscapes, guided by the changing seasons.”

Located in the Uda District of Nara Prefecture, Tsukihi is a retreat situated in a tranquil area surrounded by nature. The guesthouse is positioned with a beautiful view of the Soni Highlands in front and the majestic Yoro Mountain in the background. This retreat accommodates only one group per day, ensuring a luxurious private experience.

The house (renovated traditional farmhouse) preserves the beauty of historical architecture. Guests can immerse themselves in nature and rejuvenate both physically and mentally through various activities such as farming experiences and crafting using natural materials.

Throughout the year, guests can enjoy the changing seasons—from cherry blossoms and fresh greens in spring to hotaru (fireflies) and river play in summer, vibrant autumn foliage, and snow-covered mountains in winter. Tsukihi offers a unique chance to disconnect from the urban hustle and enjoy the seasons.

Rooms

The guesthouse offers a farmhouse-style stay with a focus on traditional Japanese decor, including tatami and sliding paper doors. From the room, guests can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding nature. Not only does the stay include accommodation, but guests can also engage in seasonal farming activities or flower arranging, adding an authentic rural experience.

Additionally, guests can book an optional head massage or an aroma oil lymphatic treatment (available for women only). These treatments are perfect for relaxing and focusing on one’s body and mind, offering a luxurious time of self-care in a tranquil setting. Tsukihi serves as a retreat space where guests can take the time to care for themselves, not just as a place to stay.

Guests will also enjoy the “O-Kame no Yu” hot spring, located five-minutes away. This popular Kansai natural hot spring will help soothe any lingering fatigue.

Meals

The meals at Tsukihi feature organic, self-grown rice cooked in a traditional clay pot, along with side dishes made from seasonal ingredients, providing a comforting and wholesome dining experience. The rice is cultivated without pesticides or chemical fertilizers, using the power of nature. Cooking it in a clay pot enhances the rice’s sweetness and aroma, creating a fluffy and delicious texture.

The ingredients and seasonings are carefully selected, with an emphasis on organic products. The food is made without chemical additives, highlighting the natural flavors of homemade fermented foods and fresh seasonal ingredients. The meals are primarily plant-based, catering to vegans and those with food allergies, ensuring they are both environmentally friendly and nourishing for the body.

The meals, prepared with the owner’s dedication and respect for nature, offer a balance of nutrition, and guests will feel their bodies rejoice as they enjoy each dish.
