This place was created by renovating a farmhouse built in the first year of Meiji and the first year of Taisho period. Surrounded by abundant nature and beautiful scenery, you can enjoy the changing scenery of the four seasons and enjoy the hospitality that focuses on local ingredients in a cozy, nostalgic space in a renovated old farmhouse.
Concept
“Connecting Mie and Nara.”
Soni Kodama Resort Tawa is located in Soni Village, Nara Prefecture, and is also close to Nabari City, Mie Prefecture. The resort was created out of the owner’s desire to share the charms of both prefectures with as many people as possible. In addition to accommodations, the resort offers a variety of services, including camping, dining, and a three-wheeled trike experience. The inn is popular with families and groups, as they can fully utilize all five senses to experience the charms of Mie and Nara through activities.
The inn is surrounded by nature, and the murmuring of the river provides a pleasant environment for visitors to relax and unwind. Not only the inn, but the entire resort places importance on living in harmony with nature, so you can forget about time and face yourself. It is a heartwarming inn where you can notice small happiness, be healed, and feel gentler than usual.
Rooms
Since the inn is limited to two groups per day, the space is designed to provide healing for each guest individually, and the rooms are a blend of Japanese and Western-style rooms with a relaxed atmosphere. The walls and ceilings are plastered to retain the atmosphere of a renovated old private home, while the Tempur beds invite deep sleep. Guests can choose from two types of rooms (Enishi) or a single building (Hou) to suit their own needs.

Some events guests can experience are the harvesting of vegetables, bonfires, fireworks, and star gazing. The owner’s thoughtfulness is evident as he hopes that guests will not only stay overnight but also take home with them the memories of their trip and the experiences they have at this place.
In particular, the bonfire under the star-filled sky is an activity that we highly recommend you to try.
The “Okame-no-Yu” hot spring, popular in the Kansai region for its beauty, is located next door, so you can easily enjoy the natural hot spring water. It is the perfect place to heal your body after a long day.
Meals
Guests are welcomed with dishes with local ingredients and rice cooked in an old-fashioned kamado. The chef’s creative creations are on the menu, and along with their beautiful presentation, they are a delight for the taste buds. The menu is decorated with seasonal vegetables from the region, letting you enjoy different dishes depending on the season you visit. The meals are gentle on the mind and body, leaving you feeling somewhat at ease after just one bite.
Rice cooked in an old-fashioned kamado is exceptional. You can even try your hand at lighting the fire, which is something we encourage everyone to do. You will be impressed by how much effort and love goes into making rice, which is now usually cooked with the flick of a switch.
The many small bowls of rice prepared for breakfast will make you want more. Of course, the breakfast menu also uses plenty of local vegetables, adding a rich and colorful start to the day.
