About 70 minutes by car from central Fukuoka, Manten no Niwa is a nostalgic inn where you can relax and enjoy the beauty of the changing seasons.
Concept
“A place where hometown connections, people, and nature come together.”
Surrounded by nature, the inn offers a peaceful escape from the city, allowing you to refresh both your body and mind.

Each visit brings a new experience, as the scenery shifts with the seasons, offering a fresh perspective every time.

“I want to live in a peaceful place surrounded by nature, with simple people around me, living a life of ‘working in the fields on sunny days, reading books on rainy days. And when friends from afar visit, I want to host them with the beauty of these Japanese landscapes.”
The current owner, carrying forward
the original vision has transformed the inn into a whole-house rental.
Each room has a terrace or garden to bring you closer to nature, and the spacious living areas are perfect for family and friends to gather. The owner, who deeply values the bond between nature and people, has created a warm, welcoming space for making cherished memories with loved ones.
Rooms
Manten no Niwa is situated on a vast 1,500 tsubo (about 5,000 square meters) of land, featuring two buildings: the main house, which is a traditional Japanese-style single-story structure with a large hall (daihōma) and a back room (oku no ma), and a separate building full of playful charm. Behind the inn stretches the majestic Minou Mountains (耳納連山), which change their appearance depending on the rain or the light of the morning and evening, offering beautiful views.
Main House – Large Hall (Daihōma)
Behind the inn, the majestic Minou Mountains (耳納連山) stretch out, changing their appearance with the weather or the light at different times of day, offering stunning views.

Separate Building (Hanare)
The large hall can accommodate up to 10 guests, offering a spacious and private area. With wide corridors and tatami-floored rooms, the space evokes a nostalgic feel. The well-maintained rooms also carry a sense of history, and stepping into them naturally lifts your spirits.

This room accommodates up to 3 guests. While more compact than the main house, it has a cozy, well-designed atmosphere with natural wood tables and a bar counter, adding to its charm. It’s perfect for those seeking a more private and intimate experience.
Each space is designed for comfort and relaxation. Large windows bring in the natural beauty of Tashima Town, and you can enjoy views of the Japanese garden from every room. You can unwind in the garden or on the balcony, breathing in the fresh air. At night, the starry sky adds a special charm, offering a peaceful, quiet escape.
The rooms at Manten no Niwa provide a warm, homely feel, allowing guests to relax and soothe their spirits. In harmony with nature, it’s the perfect place to unwind at your own pace.
Baths

A private open-air bath in the garden is just for our guests to help you relax and unwind. While each room has its bath or shower, soaking in the garden bath will help you feel refreshed and relieved of any stress.
The bath is large enough for up to 5 guests at once. It works on a reservation basis, so please let us know in advance if you’d like to use it.
The open-air bath at Manten no Niwa is a perfect way to relax both your mind and body. It’s a chance to connect with nature and enjoy a peaceful moment. Why not take the time to experience this calming space?
Meals

Manten no Niwa is a “room-only plus extras” type of inn, so we don’t provide meals. But, being in the countryside, you can enjoy dining outside, surrounded by nature.
You’re welcome to use the kitchen in your room, or you can have a BBQ at the designated area on the property. Eating outdoors with your loved ones makes the experience even better.
At Manten no Niwa, we believe that picking ingredients, lighting the fire, cooking, and cleaning up should all be part of the fun. The process of preparing your meals together will make your stay even more memorable.
