Hideyo Noguchi suffered burns on his left hand at the age of one, resulting in the loss of five fingers. However, at 15, he underwent surgery that restored his fingers. He later spent three years at the “Kaiyo Clinic” where he received treatment.

The second floor of the facility displays exhibits related to Noguchi’s life and work. The street in front of the building is named “Hideyo Noguchi Seishun Dori” (Hideyo Noguchi Youth Street) in his honor.

Aizu Ichibankan

The café is located on the first floor of the Hideyo Noguchi Youth Museum. It serves excellent coffee, made from carefully sorted beans sourced from countries connected to Hideyo Noguchi. Only the best beans are selected and expertly roasted to create a rich, flavorful cup. Handmade cakes are also a popular treat, adding to the charm of the café.

The café’s retro atmosphere makes it a perfect place to relax, and the cups used in the café are available for purchase. If you’re looking for a peaceful spot to unwind, this is a highly recommended place to visit.
